Here at Walsh’s Pharmacy we believe in educating our customers in preventative healthcare.  Our Resident Nutritionist, Fiona Flaherty, Bsc, DipNT, NTOI who runs her own business: Nutrition Inspired; Weightloss and Nutritional Therapy, is on hand each month in our Pharmacies in Spiddal, Oranmore and Loughrea to give FREE Nutritional Advice to customers who book a FREE 30 minute private consultation with Fiona. Each month has a theme, and in November the theme is the anti-inflammatory diet, a diet that health practitioners are now starting to sit up and take notice of because the results coming back from patients are very positive. The Anti-Inflammatory Diet targets chronic inflammation, a root cause of many serious conditions (such as rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease & some cancers) that are being linked to chronic inflammation.

When you see inflammation on the outside of your body, for example from a wound or sprain, there is local redness, heat, swelling and pain.  This is the cornerstone of the body’s ACUTE response to injury, infection, etc. designed to bring more nourishment and immune activity to the site to promote healing.
